    During the development of in vitro diagnostic reagents, the stability of reagents is the key to restrict the marketization of products. In addition to focusing on the accuracy and repeatability of diagnostic reagents, developers also need to ensure the quality of the product over the shelf life, so the choice of preservative is important. With the continuous development of in vitro diagnostic reagents, the requirements for preservatives are also constantly increasing. Safety and environmental protection have been included in the scope of government departments. Some preservatives harmful to the human body or the environment will be gradually phased out. HY-500 preservative is a broad-spectrum, high efficiency, low toxicity and environment-friendly preservative produced by in vitro diagnostic reagents. It has been used for 15 years in place of sodium azide in production, and it is hoped that the majority of users will be assured of using it.

    The HY-500 preservative attacks three specific enzyme cleavage sites in the cell's tricarboxylic acid cycle: α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, succinate dehydrogenase, and NADH dehydrogenase. For example: pyruvate dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase, alcohol dehydrogenase, etc., thereby inhibiting cell metabolism, macromolecular synthesis.

    At recommended concentrations, HY-500 preservatives acts on horseradish peroxidase and alkaline phosphatase systems, respectively, without affecting the rate of enzyme-substrate binding and have no effect on enzyme activity.

    HY-500 preservative is a colorless, slightly viscous, slightly aromatic and astringent oily liquid. Dissolved in water, mixwith acetone, ethanol and glycerol arbitrary in any ratio, is one of the relatively safe preservatives. Used as a more suitable alternative to virulent sodium azide in biological buffers.
